Extending Suffrage. the five stages. By the end of the first stage almost all white males could vote in every state. the second stage was going to let any male vote by the 15th amendment but for another century african americans were denied the right to vote. the third stage let women vote in 1869 and by 1920 more than half of the states had followed that lead. the fourth stage was going to let the african americans secure their role in the electoral process in the states. and the fifth stage let no state set a minimum age of voting but they had to be over the age of 18.
2. Provide a paragraph on an important issue of your choice from Section 2:
Poll tax. i think that it was wrong to be able to set a tax that people have to pay before they could vote. if they still had the poll tax i think there wouldnt be as many voters. i think that because people arent going to want to vote if they have to pay to vote for someone. i dont think that result would be very good if there isint very many voters. i think thats why they got rid of it, because they saw a decrease in voters.
3. Provide a paragraph on an important issue of your choice from Section 3:
the civil rights act of 1964. it outlaws discrimination in several areas, especially in job related matters. it was wrong to not let people votyte just because of their color. my point of view on discrimination is i think is that is is very wrong and people shouldnt judge others.

why people do not vote? it is because there are the cannot voters out there, and there are the actual nonvoters. that is an important issue because i think that all people should go out and vote. there is no reason people cant go out and vote it doesnt take very long and it is relativley easy.
